Kara's passion for lighting began in high school, where, as a ballet dancer, she discovered a greater love for creating art with light than for dancing in pointe shoes. After graduating from NCSA, she started designing for dance and opera along the East Coast.

Upon returning to New York, Kara joined PRG Systems, working on permanent installations that involved creating and renovating theaters, TV studios, and transforming the NYC skyline with light. Her fascination with renovation and aversion to inconsistent color temperatures led her to specialize in Architectural Lighting Design.

Kara’s diverse portfolio includes projects ranging from ABC Studios to Vapiano restaurants. She is excited to collaborate with Evoke to illuminate the world.

In her free time, Kara enjoys running half-marathons and collecting shiny medals.

Featured Project

LaGuardia Airport - Terminal B Water Feature

The Terminal B Water Feature is the only one of its kind in the Americas and the only one of its kind found globally in an airport. 4,000 gallons of recirculated water run through the system and fall from two rings to create a water curtain. 450 nozzles individually open and close to create shapes falling from the water. Three projectors are used to wrap light around the water. Video content, lights, and audio are played back in sync to create unique shows for travelers played throughout the day.

Aventura

Aventura Corporate Center is a premiere office campus located in South Florida. Evoke worked in concert with Westfourth Architecture and the owner to update the front of house and hallways to a modern stylized design.

The fixtures throughout the entry and hallways provide sleek lines and full spectrum white light to highlight the Italian marble walls and floors to create an elegant and inviting atmosphere.
